Vaishno Devi temple of Ahmedabad is a replica of the original temple in Jammu and Kashmir.
Located on the top of a hill, the temple is sacred to Goddess Vaishno Devi, a manifestation
of Goddess Durga. The temple is 50 feet in diameter and houses a hall that can accommodate
around 5000 people. Surrounded by a sprawling garden, the temple remains thronged with tourists

Location 1: Bala Hanuman Temple
The Bala Hanuman Temple, dedicated to Lord Hanuman, is the most famous temple of Jamnagar.
Located on the peaceful shore of the Lakhota lake, it houses idols of Lord Hanuman as well
as Lord Ram, Lord Lakshman and Devi Sita. The temple is listed in the Guiness Book of World
Records for the non-stop chanting of the Ram Dhun since 1964. A visit to the Bala Hanuman Temple
can be easily included in an itinerary covering the temples of Dwarka and Somnath.
Location 2: Lakhota Museum
Lakhota Palace, standing on an island in the middle of the Lakhota lake, was built in the 19th
century as an employment program for the locals affected by drought.
It now houses the Lakhota Museum, a popular attraction in Jamnagar. The museum displays a
variety of artifacts ranging from the 9th to the 18th century including pottery shards,
swords, muskets, and even a skeleton of a whale. Its walls are decorated with frescoes
depicting battles fought by the Jadeja Rajputs. The island museum can be reached from
the shore by the north-side causeway.
Location 3: Lakhota Lake
Located in the heart of Jamnagar, Lakhota Lake or Lakhota Talav was constructed by King of
Navanagar Jan Ranmal II in the mid-19th century. Apart from its scenic beauty, the lake is
also known for being a birdwatcher's paradise. While taking a tour of the lake, visitors might s
pot various species like pelicans, flamingos, etc. A boat ride would be an ideal way to experience
the picturesque beauty of the lake. In the centre of the lake on an island stands the Lakhota Palace
tower, now known as the Lakhota Museum. Being situated in the middle of the city, Lakhota lake is easily
accessible by public transport.
Location 4: Temples of Jamnagar
Owing to the presence of many temples, Jamnagar is often called Chhota Kashi (small Kashi). Amongst all the
temples that can be seen here, the most famous is Bala- Hanuman, located on the southeast side of Ranmal Lake.
In the year 1964, chanting of Ram dhun – 'Shri Ram, Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram' went on in the temple premises, day
in and day out. For this ritual, the temple got listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. Along with other
Hindu temples, there are some mausoleums too like the renowned Bohra Hajira, Khijada and Ratan- Bai Masjid. Also,

Location 1: Nageshwar Jyotirling Temple
The Nageshwar temple lies on the route between Dwarka and Beyt Dwarka, about an hour's drive from Dwarka city.
It is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples of Lord Shiva and hence of great religious significance. This Jyotirlinga,
known as Nageshwar Mahadev, is said to grant protection from poison to its devotees. Thousands of pilgrims visit the
temple every year. It is also characterized by a 25 metre tall statue of a seated Lord Shiva. Since this is a religious

Location 2: Rukmani Temple
The Rukmini Temple is located 2km away from the Shree Dwarkadhish Temple and is dedicated to Rukmini, consort of Lord Krishna.
Since Rukmini was an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi, it is believed that praying to her will invite peace and prosperity into life.
It is a standard practice for pilgrims visiting Shree Dwarkadhish Temple to follow this up with a visit to Rukmini Temple for blessings.
While the orginal temple is said to have been constructed nearly 2500 years ago, the current structure was built during the 12th century.

A fine boutique heritage hotel of Ahmedabad, House of MG is one of the oldest buildings in the city and dates back to the 20th century.

Location 3: Somnath Temple
Shree Somnath Mahadev Temple is the first among the twelve Aadi Jyotirlings in India and is believed to have been constructed originally
in the 4th century AD. Located in Prabhas Patan in Gujarat, it is an important pilgrimage site, especially for Shiva devotees. According
to ancient Puranic beliefs, the temple was first built in gold by the Moon-god Soma (hence its name), then in silver by the Asura king Ravana,
and subsequently in wood by Lord Krishna. It was later rebuilt by the Solanki Rajputs in the 11th century. Between the 11th and 18th centuries,
Somnath temple was looted and destroyed by invaders numerous times but was always rebuilt. The present temple was built between 1947 and 1951 at
the initiative of Sardar Patel.
It is built in the Chalukyan style of architecture with a Shikhara nearly 50m high. The temple is illuminated every evening, and also hosts a
Sound and Light show daily. It is the site of a major fair held every year during Kartik Poornima (October/November). Since this is a religious site,

Location 1: Gangeshwar Temple
Gangeshwar Temple is located 2 km away from Diu Fort in Gujarat. Dedicated to Lord Shiva,
the temple is said to have been built by the Pandavas during their exile.
The cave temple is famous for its 5 Shivlingas that are situated amidst the rocks and get washed
by the waves during high tide. It is a unique temple, and exudes both divine energy as well as serenity.

Location 2: Panikotha
Panikotha or the Fortim do Mar is a stone fortress built in the shape of a ship, on an island a mile off the
coast of Diu. It was used as a prison during Portuguese rule, and is still a major landmark around Diu. Visitors
can reach here by boat, and the places to see here include an old lighthouse and a church dedicated to Our Lady of
the Sea. Panikotha also offers panoramic views of Diu Fort and the surrounding ocean, and is a beautiful sight when
illuminated at night. Legend has it that a secret passage used to connect Panikotha with the Diu Fort on the mainland,
but that passage has never been found. The fortress was featured in the popular Bollywood movie "Qayamat". A fair amount
of walking is required to reach Panikotha therefore, it is suggested to wear comfortable shoes.
Location 3: Diu Fort
The massive Diu Fort was built by the Portuguese in the 16th century to protect the region from invasion. It is now largely in
ruins and is administered by the Government Of India. It is one of the most prominent tourist spots in Diu, and is also known as
'Praça de Diu'. The fort is skirted by the sea on three sides and offers a magnificent view. Several old cannons can still be seen
on the ramparts, and a part of the fort still houses a running prison. We recommend that you carry water bottles, hats and sunscreen
while visiting the fort. It is easily accessible by public transport.
Location 4: Churches in Diu
The churches of Diu are known for their beautiful Portuguese architecture, depicting colonial association. The St Paul’s Church,
Church of St Francis of Assisi and Church of St Thomas are to name a few, which were constructed between 15th-17th centuries AD.
The St Francis of Assisi is the oldest one which is situated on a hilltop and overlooks the Arabian Sea. Church of St Thomas is
known for the faded Portuguese frescos on its walls. Dedicated to Our lady of Immaculate Conception, St. Paul's Church showcases
the baroque style of architecture. Also, St. Paul's Church is the only active church in the region.

Diu to Sasan Gir

Location 1: Gir National Park
Gir National Park at Sasangir attracts droves of visitors every year, as it is the only park in India where the endangered Asiatic
lions can be seen. Spread across 1,412 sq.km, the park is one of the oldest sanctuaries in India. Declared a National Park in 1975,
Gir is home to about 523 lions as per the 2015 census. In addition, many other animals such as Jackal, Striped Hyena, Chital, Nilgai,
Porcupine, Black-naped Hare etc. are also found here in abundance. Gir also has a sizeable number of pythons, and one of the largest
populations of marsh crocodiles in the country.
Birdwatchers can expect to find a sizeable avian population including migratory birds. Visitors are advised to carry drinking water
and travel in safari vehicles with a guide instead of strolling alone. Smoking, feeding of animals and bringing plastic bags are all
prohibited in the Park. The Park is closed from mid June to mid October every year.
