Location 1: Cheshma Shahi
Chashme Shahi, the smallest of all the Mughal Gardens of Srinagar, is widely known for its terraced lawns, freshwater spring and
colorful flowers. All these components add a divine and sparkling touch to the garden located at one end of the Dal Lake at the
foothills of the Zabarwan mountains. The garden stretches over an area of one acre and is planted with a variety of trees including
the Chinar and fruit trees. Originally built in 1632 under the supervision of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, the garden has undergone
various renovations in the succeeding years.
It was named by the Emperor himself after the freshwater spring, the chashma, which is highly refreshing and supposed
to have mineral content. There are several fountains and waterfalls adding to the lush beauty of this garden.
Location 2: Nishat Bagh
Nishat Bagh is located on the eastern side of Dal Lake, running along its bank. The word “nishat” literally means joy
hence it is also called the Garden of Bliss. The beautiful compound does justice to its name with the Zabarwan Mountains
in the background, the stunning vista of the Dal lake, and the beautiful sight of tall trees and colourful flowers within
the garden's various terraces. It was designed by Asaf Khan, brother of Noor Jahan, in 1633 AD. The garden is known for its
12 terraces, each representing a zodiac sign. A rectangular pool was created in the centre of the garden by bringing down a
mountain spring through the help of a 15-feet high slide. Due to its scenic beauty, Nishat Bagh has often been a location for
Bollywood song shoots

Location 3: Shalimar Garden
The Shalimar Bagh literally means "Abode of Love" and was built by the Mughal Emperor Jahangir for his lovely wife Nur Jahan.
It is the largest Mughal garden of all three, stretching along an area of 31 acres on the banks of the Dal Lake. The quintessential
feature of the garden is its terraced landscape, with the terraces rising above one another, lined with Chinar trees and beautiful
water fountains. The excellent Mughal architecture makes it one of a kind. The water channel Shah Nahar, running from higher terrace
to the lower, is a cherry on top. The layout and landscaping of the garden was inspired by the Persian "Charbagh" concept..
Location 4: Shankaracharya Temple
The ancient Shankaracharya temple is located in Srinagar atop Shankaracharya Hill, at a height of 1100 feet. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva,
the Hindu God of Destruction. Built in 371 B.C., the temple has withstood various natural disasters. It has been renovated numerous times but
the old Kashmiri architecture stays intact. It is situated atop a solid rock with an octagonal basement of 13 layers. The main shrine, situated
above a flight of stairs in a circular complex, dates back to the 11th century and provides a breathtaking 360-degree view of Srinagar and the Dal
lake. This temple is said to be the oldest known site in Srinagar. Please note, no cameras or mobile phones are allowed inside the temple complex.

Location 1: Avantipur Ruins
Built by King Avantivarman who was also the founder of Utpala Dynasty in the ninth century and ruled Kashmir
from 853 to 888 AD, the ruins of Awantipur or Avantipura are a silent reminder of the Hindu empire. Around
30 kilometers from Srinagar, the temples are dedicated to Lord Shiva and Vishnu in a typical Kashmiri architecture
which was distinct during that period. The shrine of Vishnu located in the center is surrounded by a spacious courtyard.
Right in front of the main shrine, there's a pillared mandapam. You can stop to visit this site on the way to Pahalgam.
Note: Avantipur Ruins might remain closed during Amarnath Yatra due to security reason.
Pahalgam, which was once a shepherds’ village, is one of the most beautiful spots in Kashmir. Situated about 95 km away from Srinagar,
it is located 8200 feet above sea level at the confluence of Sheshnag Lake and Lidder River. As the valley is enveloped by snow-covered
mountains, the maximum temperature doesn’t exceed 25 degrees C even in summer. One cannot afford to miss this place while visiting Kashmir
as this is an actual slice of paradise for the nature lover. Within a small radius of 15- 20 km there are various other tourist spots like
the Betaab Valley, Baisaran and many more.
